Camp Week

We celebrated Camp Week the last week in July at Children’s Mercy by going out of this world!

The service dogs, Millie and Hunter, joined in the Outer Space  fun dressed as Princess Leia and R2D2 although we’re not really sure they thought it was fun.  The music therapy specialists, Leisel and Shelbi, kicked off the week with lots of “space” tunes that the kids could call in and identify.  Camp had to be virtual again this year so everyone celebrated in their rooms with the help of the closed circuit TV system.

On Tuesday, everyone received bags with 5 Minute-To-Win-It games included – and also lots of spacey prizes. Wednesday was space slime day and the teachers played some educational space games and, that evening, Jeopardy had a Space theme. On Thursday, the kids made glow in the dark stars together AND a special guest who actually worked in Mission Control at NASA for 5 years answered lots of questions the kids called in. And on Friday we closed with more space crafts - galaxy jars and space mobiles. It was a great week.
