There are many ways you can be involved in sending kids to camp – and in bringing camp TO the kids in our Good Cheer program!
Financial contributions are certainly welcome – and very much appreciated. Your donations to Eric’s Camp Fund go toward travel expenses to fly the 15 campers to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Connecticut as well as providing lodging the night before we leave for families from small towns far away so their child can catch the early morning flight. And here in town, your funds help us bring the camp experience to kids in area hospitals every day through Good Cheer as well as several scholarships. In addition, Eric’s Camp Fund provides financial support for the camp to enhance the experience of Kansas City campers and all children who attend. The most notable of these is Eric’s Minnow Trust Fund, which ensures everyone has shiners with which to catch the biggest fish in Pearson Pond. Eric loved to fish!
In-kind donations are always welcome and can be anything that you think we might be able to use for our projects. Perhaps you have closets at home that contain well-intentioned but unfinished projects that may never see completion – or maybe you like to roam the aisles of craft stores, looking for interesting, fun supplies!
You don’t necessarily have to be crafty to be a Good Cheer volunteer – you just need to find joy in each child you meet. The rest is easy – the crafts are planned and ready to go. You just add love. We also have programs for the parents that help them pass the hours while they tend to their child. Sometimes it’s an empathetic ear that makes a great difference than all the glitter and Mod Podge in the world.
The schedule is flexible – the rewards are immeasurable.
